Well, usually at Thanksgiving time, I think about all that has happened in the past year. It is a time to reflect on all the things that deserve thanks. That isn't always easy, however. In the past year, my sister gave birth to my nephew who was stillborn. My husband and I went through a very personal, almost marriage ending, experience. The terrorist attacks on innocent people in our nation brought our world to a screeching halt. It's so easy to fall into a state of gloom when you think about these kinds of things.

HOWEVER...I refuse to look at all the bad. My sister's tragic loss has in many ways brought my sister and I closer. My husband and I have had a few rough spots since our experience, but it has brought some realistic ideas into our marriage, instead of looking at our life as one big perfect happy family. There's a lot more consideration and thought on both sides which has benefitted us greatly. The September 11 attacks affected many people on different levels but in many ways it has restored a sense of patriotism in our country.

I am thankful for (among other things):
I have a wonderful family...
My children are healthy...
We have a roof over our head and food on our table...
My daughter's adoption was FINALLY completed recently...
I have the opportunity to have my nephew living with us...

OK, onto a lighter side of Thanksgiving.
