Hunter
April 16, 2002
Hunter's had a very busy few months. He's growing like crazy and his vocabulary is finally picking up. The holidays were pretty uneventful for him. He didn't seem to interested in presents or new toys (unless they were in Kaitlyn's hands).
Hunter has grown more friendly the last couple months. He tended to shy away from strangers or family members he hadn't seen in awhile but he's been better the last month or so. He seems to like attention more now.
Hunter's vocabulary has finally included "Mama." For the longest time, he could say it, he just wouldn't. I'd hold him and tell him to say "mama" and he'd say "dada". I knew he was doing it on purpose because he'd laugh. He still does this but at least he throws my name around every once in awhile. His list of words has really grown and he tries to say
just about everything. He seems to enjoy saying "Oswald" (it's a show on Nickelodeon) and "door."
As for his health, he's doing really well. He's completed all his shots until he's 4 now. It took awhile due to a shortage of supplies for the MMR. His weight has him in roughly the 50th percentile and his height in the 90th percentile. He's still getting some molars here and there and is a little crabby when they're breaking through, but overall, he's handled it really well.

Wow, how fast time has flown. Hunter had his first birthday (you can view his birthday page here) and he enjoyed eating his birthday cake. He didn't really dig into it too much...and the amount he did attack he'd hardly eat!
I took Hunter to get his new pictures. Oh my gosh, they turned out so cute. He was such a good boy during the photo shoot. I was reluctant to take him because I thought he'd be fussy, but he did great. I had them take one photo where he wasn't looking at the camera and it turned out so beautiful and I had them process it as a black and white photo with sepia tones.
Right about the time of the last update Hunter was taking his first unassisted steps. He had been walking in between Mommy and Daddy and little spurts here and there. I tell you what, he's taken off since then. That little boy could walk for hours. He really enjoys being able to roam everywhere and unfortunately, I think he's going to be a climber.
Hunter's vocabulary is still around 10 words or so. He'll say a few words and then not say them for a week or two. He's trying to say "throw it away" now because he throws away his own diapers!! After he's changed, I'll ask him "Do you want to throw away?" and he'll grab the diaper, make his attempt at saying throw away and he heads toward the trash.
In the last couple days, he seems to think screaming really loud is fun and that blinking is a fun thing too. Kids are too funny!

One week from today Hunter will turn one. I can't believe how fast that time has gone. I know people always say how something that occurred seemed like yesterday but that is definitely the case with this past year.
Hunter is getting more and more out of his stranger anxiety phase. He gets more sociable all the time. He loves giving kisses...it's so cute!!
Hunter's favorite phrase is "I did it" which I'm sure will haunt him in the near future when he gets blamed for something and he takes the fall for it just because he likes saying he did it. He can also say "baby" and "happy".
Soon it will be time for his next round of shots...I believe he'll be getting his chicken pox shot this time. I dread the idea of taking him to the doctor. He's getting so strong I'm not sure I can handle a fight!
July 10, 2001 Well, Hunter's teeth are FINALLY breaking through. He has to be the only child in the world who had his bottom teeth and incisors pop through before the top front teeth. They are coming through at the same time which has not made Hunter the happiest camper on the block. Thank goodness for naps!!
July 7, 2001 Wow...what could I say about Hunter? I mean, at 10 (almost 11) months of age, he does something new everyday. His current thing is learning to stand by himself. He has been standing along furniture and walls but he recently decided to let go. He can stand for about 10 seconds...at least until he realized he's standing without any support.
I do think Hunter is going to be a climber. He tries to pull his leg up on the couch, in his crib...everywhere! I think I'm going to have my hands full with him.
No new words here...just the standard "mama", "dada", "baba", etc. He mixes them all up and makes his own little creations but so far nothing that sounds like a real word.
Hunter has finally decided not to hate baths. He would scream everytime I'd place him in water. He's finally realized that splashing is fun and that he can make a huge mess with water. That alone has seemed to make the whole process a positive one for him.
Hunter will be a year old next month. I just can't believe it...it doesn't seem possible that it was a year ago that I was anticipating his birth. He's changed so much and yet hasn't...he's still such a beautiful baby. He likes to look at people and tilt his nead at them...it' sooo adorable!! He also likes to shake his head "no" (hmm, should I be worried?)
CHECK BACK SOON FOR ANOTHER UPDATE!!
